Summer Santa is an all-volunteer organization with over 20 years of serving local children

In 1997, Judge Brad Bradley and the People’s Crusader, Dave Lieber, founded Summer Santa to extend the spirit of giving to children throughout the year not just during the holiday season. We serve children ages 7-14 who live in Northeast Tarrant County, Texas.

At Summer Santa, we seek to extend the generosity of the holiday season to every day of the year. By providing life-changing experiences and kindness to these children we can consistently better their lives. Imagine the magic of a Christmas morning smile no matter the season! Summer Santa is more than a one-time donation; it’s giving the gift of stability, safety, and fun to children in need while nurturing their needs throughout the year.

History

How We Spend Our Money

Summer Santa is committed to maximizing the money we spend directly on children in need. We accomplish this task through our all-volunteer board and our focus on limiting overhead expenses. In fact, we consistently keep our administrative expenses around 5% of our budget.

We generate revenue through two primary sources: grants and fundraising (comprised of events, North Texas Giving Day, and individual and corporate donations). We have a sustainable budget that allows us to fully fund our programs, and in years past, we built up a surplus to ensure we can continue to expand access to camps and back-to-school shopping within our target area.

* The 2018 number is lower than normal because we received a large grant earmarked for technology improvements. We used the grant as intended, which increased our administrative expenses. Without that spending, 95% of every dollar spent went to the children we serve.

Where We Serve

Summer Santa serves children in Northeast Tarrant County. For our outreach, we work with local school districts and charities to identify children who have the greatest needs for our programs.

Board

Summer Santa's Board of Directors are community leaders who donate their time and expertise. Summer Santa has no paid staff and no physical structure that incur expenses. We keep overhead at a minimum so the largest percentage of monies goes to service for the children.

The Board of Directors choose to serve Summer Santa because they appreciate that the programs offer children a chance to feel special and to have a “normal childhood.” They’re proud to be part of such an efficient organization to maximize the money going to children in need.
